Where do I even begin with The Woman in Cabin 10? Ruth Ware captivated me from jump street.
Our book opens and we meet Lo Blacklock. Lo is a twenty-something journalist writing for a travel magazine and reeling from a recent break-in at her flat. On the heels of her trauma she lands herself a once-in-a-career opportunity to cover the maiden voyage of a luxury cruising yacht along with a who's-who guest list of Britain's most posh.
Lo embarks on her career-making trip aboard the Aurora, settles in, and has a brief conversation with her neighbor, the woman in cabin 10. And that is where our story takes a turn.
A crime is committed at sea, Lo is our only witness, and the woman from the neighboring suite is nowhere to be found. As Lo scrambles to put the pieces together something or someone aboard seems to be thwarting her efforts at every turn and we find our leading lady in increasing danger.
With nowhere to run, too many places to hide, and unsure of who can be trusted, Ware sends readers on an emotional roller coaster, hitting us with loop-the-loop after loop-the-loop as Lo scrambles to unravel the details of mystery crime no-one believes took place.
Who can she trust? Will she make it back to shore alive? And what became of the woman in Cabin 10?
